Tours

Lake Hood is close to some amazing scenery. Depending on your time and tastes, flying a helicopter allows you to land on glaciers, swim in a glacial pool, fish streams impossible to access by other means, and view wildlife up close.  Most folks we fly tell us that their flight was one of the best experiences of their life.

Knik Glacier. Taking off from Lake Hood in Anchorage, you’ll fly over the city, then dive into the mountains and valleys bordering the city.  On the way we frequently see moose, bear, and bald eagles.  After about 30 minutes we arrive at Knik Glacier where you’ll fly between amazing icebergs and gorgeous lakes.  If you like we can land by stranded icebergs and check them out.  Then back to Anchorage, flying over virgin forests and stunning mountain passes.  Total fight time usually two hours.

Prince William Sound. About 30 minutes east of Anchorage, PWS is a huge body of deep blue water flowing up to green forests. We’ll fly over the village of Whittier, get up close to glaciers, and look for sheep, moose, bears and eagles. We typically stop on a beach to stretch and have lunch.  Flight time usually 2-3 hours.

West route.  We leave Lake Hood and fly directly over Knik Arm, then head west.  We cross over the duck flats, a waystation for thousands of migratory birds each year.  We then journey behind Sleeping Lady Mountain, and typically see moose and bear as we fly towards the Tordrillo Mountain Range.

We typically stop for lunch at Judd Lake Lodge, a jewel set on Judd Lake at the headwaters of the Talachulitna River.  Then off to the glaciers close by to flight-see, land on a glacier, and jump into a glacier pool (for the very adventuresome).  If you like we can also stop by to visit Mosquito Steve, our friend that lives in a cave in the mountains close to Judd Lake.  Flight time usually 2-3 hours.

Custom tours. The advantage of flying with us is that most everywhere is accessible.  So if you want to bear watch, see Beluga whales, or ride in a dogsled, we can set it up.
